Dennis Gallagher: Event Organizer and Foundation President
- Purpose: Preserve and promote our western heritage, and enhance the western lifestyle that makes Prescott a unique place to live & visit.
- Plan: Collaborate with the city and local organizations to educate the residents of Prescott (including our youth), about our history and western heritage.
For nearly a year, Dennis has been presenting his “Partnering for Success” plan with ideas regarding how the community can work together to bring about a spirit of cooperation and accomplishment in order to preserve and promote our western heritage. This comprehensive plan includes potential new events, possible enhancements of existing events, and suggested new “tag” lines (Cowboy Capital of the American West or Experience Prescott-Live the West). In addition, Dennis has proposed the concept of wrapping all of the events from May through September into a “Way Out West – Prescott Fest” promotion. Other documented plans include honoring the Arizona Culture keepers during the Statehood Centennial celebration along with ideas regarding community, regional, national, and international marketing.
Dennis says that the assets that he is so passionate about preserving include the “World’s Oldest Rodeo”, our great museums, Whiskey Row/Historic Courthouse Plaza, art of the American West, cowboy poetry, cowboy/western music, the remaining working ranches, our other open spaces, Prescott’s other historic districts, and last but not least, our spirit of the West.
"Prescott’s history is the foundation for our future and should be a key element of any destination tourism plan."
Rarely does an individual or a single organization have a major influence in shaping the future of a city. But if a group of dedicated individuals and organizations work together, Dennis believes that it will make a major impact regarding the preservation of our western heritage, and potentially create a new era of downtown excitement and success for the local economy.
This is the time for individuals and organizations that are passionate about Prescott’s history to step up, get involved, and work together on a vision to promote the city’s heritage.
